The consultation

What the consultation covers

A conversation and a look under the lamp, 30 minutes on its own or the first half of the first facial. It comes before your first facial and before the series.

  • Your skin

What it does after you wash it, in heat, in air conditioning and in the sun.

  • Your routine

What you use, in what order and how often. Bring it, or photograph it.

  • What you've tried

What helped, what stung and what you'd rather not repeat.

  • Your date

The event, the weeks you have and who is getting ready with you.

  • What goes on your skin that day

Your makeup artist's products, if you know them, so the visits are planned around them.

  • The note

Shweta writes down what she noted and gives you a copy, so the next visit starts there.

Planned for deeper skin tones

One new thing at a time

Shweta plans facials for deeper skin tones, and she goes slowly with anything new.

  • A patch test first

Anything new goes on a small area first, with time to see how your skin takes it before it goes anywhere else.

  • Sun-care notes

A facial leaves skin more sensitive to sun for a day or two, so she goes over sunscreen and shade for the days around a visit.

  • One change between visits

She changes one thing at a time, so you both know what made the difference.

When to see a doctor

We'll suggest a dermatologist or your doctor when

A facial can't do everything, and Shweta would rather say so than keep booking you. She will suggest a dermatologist, or your doctor, when:

  • Breakouts that are deep, painful or lumpy

These sit deeper than a facial reaches, so a facial isn't the right next step.

  • Dark patches that are new or spreading

She'll note them and suggest someone who can look at them properly.

  • A spot or mole that is changing

Anything that grows, bleeds or changes color goes to a doctor, not a facial.

  • Skin that is hot, swollen or oozing

Shweta will ask you to see a doctor before booking again.

  • A rash after a new product

She stops what she's using, tells you why and suggests your doctor if it hasn't settled.

  • Anything your doctor has said to avoid

Bring it up at booking. She plans around it, or waits until your doctor says it's fine.
